Top 4 Things To Do At E3
By: Simon Jones | June 12th, 2010

As a handful of our beloved writers head off to Los Angeles this week, the rest of us are left wondering what to do in their absence. Dreaming about leprechauns, midgets, and other fantastical creatures only takes up so much time, so why not list a few things that our Limiteers may get up to over the next few days?

After minutes of intense research, we’ve finally come up with a comprehensive list of the most important things to do at E3 this year. Read on to learn more!

The witch (warlock?) is dead
By: Simon Jones | March 22nd, 2010

As we already know thanks to Colin’s news post, the almighty cockmuncher Michael Atkinson has been buttfucked one too many times resigned from his position as South Australian Attorney-General – despite winning his seat of Croydon on the weekend.

Talk about an original game
By: Simon Jones | February 1st, 2010

At Game Jam Sydney this year, a bloke presented his own game that is… well, unique to say the least.

Check out the video below to see just how innovative indie developers are becoming. It’s hilarious stuff.

You can find more info on Radix’s game, GNILLEY, here.

All I want for Christmas
By: Simon Jones | November 26th, 2009

While I’d be more than happy with something like Assassin’s Creed 2, or a pre-order of Heavy Rain, I have finally come across the one thing I’ve been searching for my whole life.

And no, it’s not a video game.

Small Worlds
By: Simon Jones | October 22nd, 2009

Fazed is such a good friend to me.

If you have a bit of spare time, check out this uber-casual game Small Worlds

For some reason it completely sucked me in… but maybe that’s just because I was listening to the Whitley album.

Whatever the case, give it a go and tell me if you got past Level 4… that’s all I’ve had time for so far.

Now this is just cool…

Can you say… Terminator?

What do you guys think about the way robotic technology is progressing in terms of our predicted reliance upon it in the future?

Fazed has long been a quencher of lunchtime boredom for me. And I’m happy to say that, once again, the boys haven’t let me down.

“Deep in the forest lived Billy and his charming companions. They peacefully honed their bodies and listened to music there. But a wave of development came upon the forests. One who would turn all to road. Kagamine Rin had come. Billy must stop the construction before all is turned to road.”

All I have to ask is: when is it getting released on the 360?

Waiting for 10
By: Simon Jones | July 26th, 2009

Sadly, I’ve just discovered the release date for FIFA 10, and it’s not a pretty fact. For those who want to hold onto the hope that footballing bliss is just a stone’s throw away, don’t read on:

OCTOBER 2nd!

Disappointing as that may be, I still need something to pass the time over the next two and a bit months while I wait for those lazy hacks over at EA Vancouver to hurry up and finish my game!

Football is such an emotional sport.

Anyway, I’ve been finding myself with less and less little entertainments to use up 5 minutes of spare time on. I honestly started playing the Curiously Strong Altoid game – WTF!?! – before I realized that I was making myself stupider.

BORED!

Moony’s Learn to Fly game is pretty rad and, since this is Gamer Limit, I suspect that most of you will have a few little time-wasting games tucked up your sleeves.

Virtual Love
By: Simon Jones | July 23rd, 2009

Okay, so this guy – a normal guy by all accounts – has a pretty regular life: a girlfriend, a job, etc. But one day this guy decides that he’s going to throw that all away – including his self-respect – and fall in love with a 10-year-old girl by the name of Nemutan.

Now this immediately sends warning bells blaring through your senses, right? Wrong. Nemutan is a video game character from Da Capo and the guy, who calls himself Nisan, although that’s not his real name, is free to walk around with her depiction plastered on a pillowcase all day.

I think it's love

I don’t know about you guys, but something smells really odd about this. I’ve been coming across far too many idiotic rants on the topic of the otaku petition of late, and have begun to wonder where fantasy ends and insanity begins. By no means am I saying that this dude, Nisan, deserves to be locked up or hounded into isolation, but what I am saying is where do we draw the line?

I mean come on, marrying a 2D character? For Christ’s sake even that sends my left wing ethics into overdrive. I’m all for happiness and finding the perfect partner, but aren’t these guys just setting themselves up for a fall? Not to mention the public scrutiny they cause in the wake of their revelations – which I doubt any of them really care about anyway.

If this petition does end up going to government and becomes a perfectly acceptable law, what then? What happens when two or more men want to marry the same girl? Do the normal laws of jealousy apply, or is it just free rein on the pixelated beauties?

To be honest, I don’t think too many people will bat an eyelid at this story. “Just another weirdo gamer, doing what they do best.” But it does make me wonder how ridiculous our society has become if this petition is to be taken seriously.

Marathons: Gamer-style
By: Simon Jones | July 22nd, 2009

So quite often in my line of work I find myself drifting off into tangents when browsing the net. Sometimes this is just into random hilarious sites like “Stuff White People Like” (which I recommend all un-PC people visit), while other times it is onto job sites like Seek where I browse all the awesome, high-paying jobs I’m not at all qualified to apply for.

But recently, I’ve become completely swept up in UStream fever. This great little piece of technology lets me watch all the sport I need to for work, as well as random Mexican ads about shampoo. Yesssssssss.

I was just searching through a couple of shows one day when I found the Holy Grail of Rad: Mario Marathon 2. Immediately I punched myself in the face for the sheer realisation that I had somehow missed the first Mario Marathon. Frustrated by that fact as I was, I tuned into the program and was greeted by three gods of gaming. These blokes were attempting to play – and complete – every single Mario game in order to raise money.

Mario Marathon!

I ended up watching sporadically throughout the day, seeing them take turns sleeping and just generally being swept up in the constant stream of Twitter messages they were receiving. This got me thinking, what other sorts of games would be worthy of a marathon in order to raise money? – keep in mind that these guys collected $28,000, immediately after which they did a most excellent Mario dance.

I’d really like everyone’s thoughts as I’m pretty keen to do one myself with a few fellow gamers. Obviously it wouldn’t be on the same scale as Mario Marathon or the popular Final Fantasy Marathons, but it would be a sure-fire way for me to curb boredom on a weekend.

Thoughts?
